The cobia is one of the largest fish caught on the pier and are
caught during the summer months when the water is warm. Cobias are caught
mostly on live bait, (bluefish or spot), on a float or kingrig( the name
kingrig derives from the fact that the rig is also used to catch king mackerel).
It takes a lot of patience and determination to catch cobias, because you
may have to try for days or weeks before you get lucky, so kingfisherman
spend a lot of time
gossiping, drinking beer etc... But if you catch one you are rewarded
with some very tasty meat, especially
when marinated in Zesty Italian and grilled. |
