These are the basic's....Best to follow the locals, use what works at that point in time for whats running. Stop past a fishing shop and get the latest scoop on the what where and how, then pick up a tide sched. When fishing the pier or surf it's not necessary to try casting to the moon because the baitfish are right in the surf, so thats where the bigger fish will come to eat, generaly in the slough between the first and second breakers. The smooth water crossing a breaker generaly in the middle is a cut that allows easy entry into the slough for the fish. Good place to place your bait. Learn to read the water. It talks to you when you know the language. Pay attention to what locals are using. Type of bait, hook size, how much weight to hold bottom and always change your bait to keep your offering fresh. Try this and you may put fish in the box and Filet's in the pan. Good luck but more important, have a good time. _________________ Skywalker |
